I think it's wonderful that your family has sponsored a child. Helping someone who has a name and a face is a very tangible way for children to understand the positive effects of their giving. I'm sure it's proving to be a very rewarding experience for them.

The cat toys are easy peasy to make -- no sewing required and so it's a perfect project for young ones! You cut out rectangles of polar fleece fabric (about 9 inches by 7 inches), sprinkle a little pile of catnip in the centre, fold the two long sides into the centre to hold the catnip in, roll the fabric into a cylinder shape, then tie a knot in the centre and pull the two ends tight. (The catnip ends up inside the knot, and you will have two ends sticking out for a cat to grab onto.) Does this make sense? We've made them for our cat Maggie many times since my mom showed us the trick and she loves them! I hope you and your little animal lovers have fun with this project! :)

A very Merry Christmas to you and your family, too! xo LisaLisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05081765635682817940noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1613571024274471949.post-24233416947464546052010-12-17T19:10:27.080-05:002010-12-17T19:10:27.080-05:00Lisa, first off you are such an amazing writer! I...Lisa, first off you are such an amazing writer! I really really love reading your posts. This one in particular really hits home for me. I feel sooo very blessed with so many joys in my life and I take time to reflect upon that daily. I too try to pass down to my children the importance of awareness. This year we are sponsoring a little boy through Chalice, who is only a few months younger than Nohl. He thinks this is really cool to have a younger brother.

I am so in love with your mom's idea for the pet shelter and this would be perfect for my little animal lovers. How do you make the toys? Is sewing involved? I'd really love to do this! Merry Christmas to you and your family!! xx ~StaceyStaceyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03329195658169325154noreply@blogger.com
